The Bowling Alley installation began as a collaboration with
10 Twin Cities artists. During summer 1995, the Minneapolis Ten developed
a body of
interlinked electronic texts via local public access TV's (Minneapolis
Telecommunications Network) listserv(Bowl@mtn.org).
Reflecting on issues of access, power and desire from the fringe of the
cyberzone, this collective hypertext formulates the ten pin matrix of
webtexts grabbed in that ten second stare.
Bowling at Bryant-Lake Bowl of Minneapolis triggers
BOWLING ALLEY's
demolition apparatus. Bowlers at Bryant-Lake trigger interactivity
in the installations chain of ISDN line connections. Images of real time
bowling are transmitted live to the gallery and onto the web, as the
SPARE and STRIKE digital
data scrambles the gallery's laserdisc projection and sends the Minneapolis Ten's
communal hypertexts to homestead the web. STRIKE & SPARE intertitles
signal bowlers' interference in the web.
